Mt. Rainier is...
- 14,410 feet high.
- the highest point in the state of Washington.
- a part of the Cascade mountain range.
- topped by glaciers (the most famous are Nisqually, and Emmons Glacier).
- climbed by more than 2500 people every year.
- an active volcano.
The Cascades hold several active volcanoes including Mt. St. Helens.
Mt. Rainier hasn't erupted in hundreds of years. Some of the caves are
warm from steam and people actually swim in the lakes- though they are
surrounded by glaciers.
